I’m 43 and missed my period. I had all the PMS symptoms but never started. Could it be perimenopause? I am still having breast tenderness.
Yes, this could be perimenopause. You can start having symptoms, including changes in your periods, years before your last period. Very often, women find that they will have all the typical symptoms that previously signalled a period was coming–significant mood swings, cravings, weepiness, backache, bloating, headache, breast tenderness, etc–but then no bleeding follows. This can continue even after your periods have stopped completely, though the symptoms are not usually as pronounced. Unless your symptoms are worrisome or worsen or you have erratic or uncontrolled bleeding, you do not necessarily need to see your doctor. Your best bet right now is to learn all you can about hormones, menopause and healthy aging.
Good luck to you,
