Missed Periods Negative Pregnancy

I am 24-year-old woman. I missed my September period, which was due on the 24th. I did three home pregnancy tests on the 6th of October, and they were negative. I also went to the hospital and did a urine pregnancy test again on the 10th of October. My doctor first gave me Deviry (10mg), but I did not got my period after that.

Later on 10th of October she gave me Modus (10mg, twice a day for 4 days). Whenever I am taking Modus I bleed for 1 min, and then it stops. I feel no sysmtoms of pregnancy other than a missed period. Can you please tell me if it is bleeding during pregnancy, or is it normal periods?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

I am not a medical professional and am not able to give you medical advice.

The medication you were given contains progesterone. You take this medication for five days. Once you stop, you usually get your period within one week. This medication is not given to prevent or stop a pregnancy; it is given for amenorrhea, which is a missed or delayed period.

If you don't get your period a week after taking this medication, you should let your doctor know. He or she may want to do further testing to find out why you are not getting your period.

Although this is difficult, it is not uncommon for women to miss their period, and there are a number of causes including ovarian cysts and polycystic ovary syndrome. Your doctor might order an ultrasound or laboratory tests to find out if there is an underlying reason for your missed periods.
