My Mouth Tastes Like The Smell Of A Bowel Movement. What Could Be Causing That?

Periodically, I have bouts of diarrhea and sometimes vomiting with it. Sunday, I had both and it lasted about 9 hours. Since that time, I have had a heightened sense of smell and a taste inn my mouth like the odor of a bowel movement. I also have difficulty swallowing anything but liquids. Is there something residual in my system that could be causing this horrible taste and difficulty swallowing?

Answer

It is possible you are dealing with a combination of factors. I would advise you to make an appointment with your physician to obtain an accurate diagnosis. It is possible that acid reflux disease or GERD could be causing some of your symptoms like the taste issues and swallowing problems. The other symptoms could be from many other things like Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or even food allergies or intolerance. Once you obtain an accurate diagnosis then appropriate treatments can be determined.
