Mt Hip Score Is Written As T-score Of 1.3 What Does This Mean?

my hip score is written like this....T-score of 1.3 what does this mean?

Answer

Hi shaggy T, welcome... Does the score have a (-) or (+) sign next to it?

Here's the World Health Orgs (WHO) definition on t-scores:

Normal bone: Any score above -1

Osteopenia: Any score between -1 and -2.5

Osteoporosis: Any score below -2.5

If it says -1.3 then you are .3 away from normal into osteopenia.

If it says +1.3 or just 1.3 then it means you have normal bone density. Either way it's a very good score.

Good luck and check the bottom of your DXA print out, it will give the same numbers that are above next to the explanation of t-scores from the WHO.
