There is no itching, both nipples are effected and it only hurts when they are agitated such as when drying off and they peel or after sex. I’ve tried removing the dry skin but it’s attached to sensitive nerves and burns! Lotion doesn’t seem to help.

Answer

This isn’t a breast cancer symptom, seeing as it affects both breasts and has been going on for so long. But you definitely need to see a doctor - it sounds VERY uncomfortable! If you’ve been to a dermatologist and haven’t seen good results, ask for a referral to a breast specialist. It sounds to me like somehow, the oil glands in your areola and around your nipple aren’t working right; hopefully a breast specialist can figure out why that’s happening, and treat the cause, not just the painful symptoms. Best of luck to you - PJH
