Answer

Hi - Lumps that come and go are usually a sign of fibrocystic change, which is a benign (non-cancerous) condition that involves overgrown fibrous breast tissue. However, if this was "seed-like" (tiny and hard) rather than a larger, more "lumpy" lump, that sounds less like fibrocystic change. Not sure what you mean by a breast scan - mammogram? MRI? ultrasound? -; but hopefully it was a test that would have seen this lump if it was an issue. Keep your eye on the spot; and if you find it again, report it to your doctor again, OK?

As for your breast(s) getting larger - did you mean the breast with the lump, or both breasts? If both, it's probably a hormonal issue. If one breast is suddenly getting larger, keep your eye on that, too. If it gains a cup size without getting smaller again; or if it appears infected (red, hot, painful, itchy), then best to see a doctor about it, OK? You could have an infection, or it could possibly be a sign of a rare form of cancer, inflammatory breast cancer - though that's unlikely, given its rarity. Good luck - PJH
