Okay To Take Benadryl On An Empty Stomach?

I can't fall asleep because of sores in my mouth that seem to be aggravated by food. All I ate today was a cup of oatmeal 18 hours ago and a cup of soup maybe 10 hours ago. Is it okay to take Benadryl and ibuprofen on an empty stomach? If I need to eat something, how much should I eat?

Answer

Benadryl can safely be taken with or without food.   Ibuprofen should be taken with food because it can be hard on the stomach, but don't worry, you don't have to eat a full meal.   Just a glass of milk, a piece of bread, or a couple of crackers should be enough to protect your stomach.

In future, if you need a quick answer to a medication question, remember that your pharmacist is a great resource. Sometimes it's easier and faster to get your local pharmacy on the phone than wait for someone online to answer.
