The areola on this breast is bigger than on the other, and has bumps on it. Should I be concerned about breast cancer?

Answer

Since you noticed this over 2 years ago, I'd doubt this breast change has anything to do with cancer - it would have progressed a lot over those 2 years. But I'd doubt it's hormonal, either, since hormonal changes tend to come and go in synch with your menstrual cycle.

Nipple issues can be worrisome, as can any breast change. Thankfully, most of the time these changes aren't a symptom of breast cancer.

Since you have questions about this change, why not ask your GP to refer you to a breast specialist? S/he can order the diagnostic testing - mammogram or ultrasound - that will rule out cancer.
