I Have Pain In My Chest That Feels Like It Explodes. Hospial Says It Is Not A Heart Attack
I have high blood pressure which is controlled by medicine. I have been having horrible chest pains that feel like they start at the top of my stomach and explode into my chest. They are usually accompanioned by a feeling like my ribs are in a vise grip so I sometimes feel the pain into my back. I have been rushed to the hospital twice for symptoms but am told it is not a heart attack. The frequency is scaring me.
Your symptoms are very dramatic and an obvious concern. You should realize that Emergency Rooms focus on identifying active problems that require immediate hospital care. Though you might not be having a heart attack, that doesn't mean that there isn't a cause for your pain. You will need further evaluation and the best person to start with is your physician. After a taking a thorough history and performing a physical examination, he is best qualified to outline a course of evaluation to get to the bottom of things. In addition to many cardiac causes, there are several others, some serious, and many not so serious. These include gastrointestinal, pulmonary (lungs), vascular, muscular, skeletal, and many others. Again, you need to see your doctor. I would also suggest looking at other areas of this website, both cardiac and non-cardiac to help provide education as a background for your visit with your physician. I hope this has helped.
