My Pain Is Under My 3 Middle Toes Only On My Right Foot. What Could This Be? Its Swollen & Painful

I have pain under my three middle toes on my right foot. It's swollen and is very painful for me to walk. It's a shooting pain and a burning sensation under the three middle toes. It has been hurting for weeks, though sometimes it hurts much more than others. Do you know what this could be?

Answer

Try using our Symptom Checker to narrow down what might be causing your pain. It has quite a bit of information of various types of foot pain. Also check our Foot Pain section.

What you describe sounds a bit like something called Morton's neuroma. Take a look at this article: http://www.healthcentral.com/chronic-pain/related-foot-pain-000061_9-145.html and scroll down to the section on "Neuromas" to see if you think this description might fit.

In the end, you're probably going to need to see a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. If your insurance doesn't require a referral to see a specialist, you might want to see a podiatrist or an orthapaedic specialist.
