Pain In Only Thumb Of Right Foot.
My 12-year-old brother has pain in his right foot's thumb (his big toe). Is there a particular disease that could cause this? I'm his brother.
Answer
Health Central has a good section on toe pain that you that you might want to check out. Look for redness and swelling (ingrown toenail), calluses (corms). He could have shoes that are bothering his toe.
It's even possible that he could have gout as children can develop gout. In gout the toe usually feels warm and tender, may look inflamed (reddish, swollen) and is painful. and usually affects the big toe.
