Can Peanut Butter Cause Constipation?

I have Crohn's disease and was wondering if peanut butter can cause constipation.

Answer

Hi Lori,

What bothers a GI tract really depends on the person. Some people with Crohn's disease avoid peanuts/peanut butter. Others handle it fine. Roughage tends to be a problem for many. If you notice a pattern with constipation and consuming peanut butter, track it in your food journal and discuss it with your GI doctor.
