My period has been stopped for a year now all of a sudden I have a period does this mean i am not through menopause and why after would i start up again?

Answer

Dear Sherry,

You don't say how old you are or if you saw a medical provider and whether it was confirmed (via a blood test) that you were actually in menopause over the past year. So it's a little hard to tell what's happening. Typically periods go on and off for a year or so, so it isn't terribly unusual to get your period again--as I recal that happened to me too and then they stopped altogether. However, if you're concerned, ask a doctor or clinic to confirm your hormone levels with a blood test. Then you'll know for sure if you are entering or in the midst of menopause.
