Can A Person With High Cholesterol Eat Tuna Sandwiches?
Answer
Hi Dynamicflame,
Yes, eat as much tuna as you'd like. The more fish the better. Granted tuna's omega 3 fatty acid content is not as high as salmon or some other fish choices, but still a great option to promote heart health.
Be sure to select tuna "in water" versus oil-packed. Albacore tuna tends to provide more omega 3's than light tuna.
Omega 3 content is low in tuna, 6 oz. provides 0.5 - 2.5 grams. So, if your goal is to boost omega 3 intake, there are much better options. See Top 5 Omega 3 Sources to Lower Cholesterol.
But, if you simply like tuna and want to make sure it's okay if you have high cholesterol. . .then the answer is Yes.
All the best,
