Please Explain Invasive Ductal Carcenoma With Apocrine Features

My mother was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcenoma with Aprocrine features and her Neuclear Pleomorphism is a 3 and her Mitotic Activity is a 3 and her Tubule formation is a 3. She has had the breast removed and is going through agressive Chemo therapy, what is the survival rate for this?

Answer

Hi - that medical language can certainly be hard to understand. Please read our Guide to Understanding your Pathology Report for the tools you need to untangle the language. Also, please read our IDC FAQS for lots of good information about her diagnosis. It sounds like she has a fairly aggressive cancer, and that her treatment reflects this. Due to all the variables, only a patient's oncologist can talk to her about survival rates; but overall, about 80% of women diagnosed with breast cancer survive it and eventually die of some other cause. Best of luck to you both - PJH
