Is It Possible For Anxiety/stress To Cause Pain In Your Muscles & Joints?

I've been super anxious for a while and I've noticed my legs (especially my knees) have really been bothering me. My back hurts as well. I was wondering if they could be related to stress or anxiety, and if so what I can do about it?

Answer

Hi Lissamonkey,

I'm sure you've gotten an answer to your question by now, but yes, it's absolutely possible for stress and anxiety to cause body aches. On the other hand, anxiety can also be a symptom of other health problems that often include body aches! So you see why it's important to talk to a doctor about all of your symptoms. She or he can help you determine what you can do about your pain, or if it's a sign of another health problem.

I hope that's helpful. If you're looking for more information on anxiety-related things these links may be helpful.
