Could It Be Possible For A 21 Year Old Woman To Have Breast Cancer?

i'm 21 years old , last monday i felt something that's itchy and achy in my breast, days passed then i observed my right breast is larger than the other , then i felt a lymph node on it , im only 21 never had given birth, is it possible that it might be a breast cancer? Thank you

Answer

Sayne, you need to find a good point between vigilance and worry. Your age and the fact that the area hurts make it less likely that you have cancer. However, as PJ points out, breast changes that last a month or longer in premenopausal women always need to be checked out by the doctor. Breast cancer doesn't always present with a lump, so if your right breast has recently begun to swell and itch, you need to see a doctor. If the changes are slight, you could wait and see if the problem changes over the course of your menstrual cycle. Then you would have better information to share with the doctor.
