I Was Prescribed .50 Mg Of Xanax For Panic Attacks And Depression.

I was prescribed .50 mg of xanax for panic attacks and depression. It worked GREAT for one week and then it stopped working. My doctor increased the amount of xanax to 1.0 mg and prescribed Lexapro-10 mg to take at night. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to advise you on medication issues.

I can tell you, however, there are many different medications available for anxiety. People react differently to different medications, so what may work for one person may not work well for another. Unfortunately, finding the correct dosage and medication can be a matter of trial and error. It is important, however, to not stop medication without first talking to your doctor and stopping only under the supervision of your doctor.

Talk with your doctor about your continued anxiety. He or she may decide to adjust your dosage or try a different medication.

Let me know how it works out.
