I Was On Protonix But My Insurance Stopped Covering It,
My insurance stopped covering Protonix, so I have to find something else....anything cheap that is as good, or maybe over the counter..
You should look up your prescription coverage of Proton Pump Inhibitors. Most of the providers have websites where you can look up what you are prescribed and what are covered alternatives. Once you know what your options are you can take the list to your doctor to discuss. Prilosec is a Proton Pump Inhibitor that is over the counter and it also comes in generic (sold as Omeprazole); it is not cheap but is less expensive than my copays on non-generics. Again, once you have the list of options that are paid via insurance you can discuss the list and over the counter options with your doc. You may not be able to take the OTC options due to the strength needed etc.
If you do trials of meds on your formulary, if they do not work you may be able to get an exception for Protonix if your doctor is willing to write you a note saying what you've tried and why you need Protonix.
Good Luck - Stephanie
