We are doing a question of the week here at OsteoporosisConnection.com and would love to hear from our members on this topic. This weeks question is above with some additional questions about your experiences with this medication.
If you’ve taken Reclast how did you do; did you improve your t-scores or did they worsen?
Did you experience any common or adverse side effects and what were they?
If you did well, will you take it again?
What advice would you give to someone considering this type of osteoporosis treatment?
Since all of these medications can have common and adverse side effects, we’d like to know about those who feel it helped and those who it didn’t. This information may help someone else who is struggling to make a decision, about this drug, that they could use in addition to what their doctor has to say.
The company that manufactures Reclast lists the following common and adverse side effects, so take a look at these to see if any of you are having these problems.
Common Side Effects:
- Pain in your bones, joints or muscles
- Pain in your arms and legs
- Flu-like illness (fever, chills, bone, joint, or muscle pain, fatigue)
- Diarrhea
Adverse Side Effects:
See the following link for adverse side effects from Novartis’ Prescribing Information.
If you’ve had severe adverse reactions, will you report this to Novartis (manufacturer of Reclast - zoledronic acid) and the FDA through their Adverse Events Reporting Service?
If we don’t take the time to report any problems, there’s no way the FDA or Novartis will know what’s going on with this drug, so please report if you need to.
Even if you haven’t tried Reclast, but have an educated opinion, we’d love to hear that as well.
Since we all react differently, it’s important to hear both the risks and benefits of this medication, based on your personal experience. Please help others by voicing your opinions.
We wish you the best during your course of osteoporosis treatment, and believe your input is invaluable to educate our readers!
