I am 45. I do not drink soda because I have cyst that are extremely painful, if I do. This is a new thing that has started over the last week or so and is only in the left breast.

Answer

Dottie, does this feel different than a cyst? Because ordinarily I'd say it sounds like a cyst. Breast pain is seldom a breast cancer symptom, so I think you have to try to identify another source. I assume you're premenopausal; if that's the case, then I'd wait several weeks, and see if the pain disappears on its own. If it doesn't, then you might want to call your doctor, describe these symptoms, and see what s/he says. Even though it doesn't feel like a typical cyst, you might want to get some screening done to find out for sure that's not what it is... and to try to determine what's causing the pain. Take care- PJH
