If you or a loved one is living with Crohn’s Disease, you may be eligible to receive an academic scholarship. UCB, a world-wide biopharmaceutical company, has just announced the winners of its third annual UCB Crohn’s Scholarship Program, and has made information available about more scholarship awards for 2009.
The UCB scholarship program was established to recognize individuals of all ages living with Crohn’s who demonstrate remarkable academic ambition and a passion to reach beyond the boundaries of their condition. Selected by a team of gastroenterologists from institutions across the country, this year there were 31 scholarship recipients.
As many of you know, continuing education can be one of the most difficult challenges if you are living with Crohn’s Disease. The UCB Crohn’s Scholarship program was designed to encourage individuals who have risen about the stigmas attached to
Crohn’s Disease, to continue pursuing their life long dreams and inspire others to feel confident in managing their own condition.
To date, the UCB Crohn’s Scholarship Program has granted $720,000 in scholarships to 74 people with Crohn’s seeking higher education. This year’s 31 winners were selected from a pool of more than 1,100 applicants from across the country and each received one-time scholarships of up to $10,000 to help pursue their academic dreams. Thirty more one-time scholarships will be awarded in 2009. The potential awards extend to participants diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease who are seeking an associate’s, undergraduate, or graduate degree, or who are enrolled in a trade school educational program.
