I Have Had Severe Lower Back Pain For About A Week Now. It Is In The Middle Close To Butt Crack

I have had pain in my lower back, in the middle right above the crack of my butt. I have had it for a week. I have taken muscle relaxers and then tried just motrin. Nothing seems to help. I put ice on it today, but it didn’t seem to help much. What should I do?

Answer

Hi Margie,

I hope you found some relief for your pain. Sounds like you could have had a strained muscle. Stretching each morning and night could help with muscle pain. Using a heating pad or hot water bottle on the area can also help alleviate pain (just be sure not to use too much heat as it could burn your skin.) A hot shower can also provide some relief.

If the pain continued, it could also have been disc related.
