I Have A Sharp Stabbing Pain In My Left Eye And In My Left Temple At The Same Time.then Blood In Eye

I have a sharp stabbing pain in my left temple and left eye at the same time. This happens every two to three weeks. After the pain diminishes, I can feel something on my eye in the corner. My husband says there is a blood red spot there and seems to be worse each time this happens. I saw my eye doctor and he said it is a swollen vessel. OK, but why? He can't give me any answers.

Why does this keep happening? The pain is extremely sharp and stabbing. After each episode, my eye will hurt for a few days and the stabbing pain in my left temple occurs probably every 10 to 15 minutes some hours then maybe just a few times the next hour. This will go on for a few days. Then, as the red spot seems to get lighter and smaller, the pain will subside. I can 't seem to get an answer as to why this is happening. Is there any serious conditions this could be related to?

Only a qualified doctor can diagnose you, and if your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Cluster headache is said to be one of the most painful types of headaches. The pain has been described as stabbing, buring and boring. You may want to take a look at this article for more information: Cluster Headaches - The Basics, but it really sounds like it is time for a new doctor.

Good luck
