Sharp Stabbing Pains On The Right Side Of My Head

For the past few months, I've been having dizzy spells every once in a while after I've been leaning forward, bending over, or just looking downwards for too long. I've simply passed them off as dizzy spells, but yesterday they were suddenly excruciatingly sharp and painful and continued to occur no matter how short a period of time I stooped over. Today they aren't as bad, but there's still a constant feeling of pressure/pain on the right side of my head (only happens on the right side) and in a large area around my temple. It also happens that I've been getting a bit dizzy or light headed as I look up.

I've had many ear infections and allergies growing up, so I'm almost positive it has something to do with that. However, I haven't been sick recently, and it's been happening for quite a while. I realize my best bet is to see a physician, but I was hoping someone could give me a little insight or similar experience?

Answer

Hi Hippysilverware, I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain. You are correct when you noted that the only person who can safely do that is a doctor who can review your and your family's medical history, discuss your symptoms with you, and conduct a complete examination. Nobody can diagnose via the Internet. Unexplained head pain and unusual symptoms always need to be checked out. If your doctor isn't able to help, it may well be time to consult a migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check this listing out at ACHENET.org
