Small Red Bump Near Nipple

Hello. I found a small red bump on my left breast near my nipple and am worried. I am 19 years old and have become concerned about IBC.I have no known history of breast cancer in my family and am have been using an anti-bacterial cream for a follicle infection on the same breast for a week and a half.

Courtney, please don't worry about this bump being IBC. It's a possibility (breast cancer is always a possibility); but at your age, and with this particular symptom, the possibility is so very, very tiny that it's not worth thinking about. I'd guess that you have another small infection; there are oil glands all around the nipple, and they have a tendency to get blocked, and slightly infected; same as having a pimple on your face. If you haven't seen a doctor for the infected follicle, why not call for an appointment? That way you could be sure you're self-treating effectively, and ask about the other bump at the same time. If you don't want to see a doctor, continue to use the cream on the infection, and keep your eye on the bump; if it gets larger, or doesn't disappear within a couple of weeks, then see the doctor to find out what's causing it, and what, if anything, you need to do to get rid of it. Take care - PJH
