Sometimes When I Abruptly Stand Up Or Stretch My Leg My Knee Will Seem To Pop. This Happens When It Is Folded In. And May Take Tens Of Minutes To Go Away, And I Cant Straighten My Leg During That Time

Lately when I've had my knee very bent afterward it won't easily straighten. I'm curious what could be wrong. It's extremely painful to straighten, and if I do force it it loudly pops. If I instead straighten it slowly over a few minutes it's completely fine. Afterward I can do any activity without pain, and it doesn't swell. Any ideas?

Answer

Knee popping is not unusual and is usually painless but if its followed by being unable to strengthen the leg something more significant is going on. Sometimes knee pops can indicate tears in your cartilage whcih work as shock absorbers. It sounds like its time to see your doctor/orthopedist. Good luck!
