I started taking Prilosec a week ago for gastritis and I still have pain and nausea. Any idea how long it takes to feel better? My pain isn’t severe, but it is there. My doc said it could perhaps be a few weeks?
I hope you’ve long since discovered the cause of this problem and gotten some treatment for it. As our community member said above, it take several weeks for gastritis to heal, and it can take a week or so before the Prilosec starts working at full effectiveness as well, so hang in there. In the meantime, you may find this article on anti-inflammatory foods helpful.
This article, on the difference between treating gastritis and acid reflux, is helpful too.
And, of course, if you haven’t given up smoking, drinking, and OTC pain relievers, it’s best to quit those as soon as possible to get the fastest possible pain relief.
