How Do You Get Strep In The Vagina

Can it be transmitted to a baby during delivery?

Answer

Strep B is a common bacteria found in the intestines, rectum or vagina. It can come and go and it's not sexually transmitted. About 25% of pregnant women carry it in their vagina or rectum, so you are not alone. From what I've read, you'll probably be given a very short course of antibiotics during delivery which will protect your child. Very few children get infected when that happens. Good luck with the pregnancy.
