In my previous post, I worte:
It’s the second week into December. No tree, no wreath on the door, not even a Poinsettia plant. The lights and decorations are in cardboard boxes, where they are likely to remain.
There is no right or wrong way of getting through the holidays. Nevertheless, we are all faced with tough choices. Call it the holiday dilemma: Try too hard and set yourself up for crushing disappointment. Sit out the season and face the near-certainty of an empty feeling.
The other day, while out running errands, I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to stop by at a nursery. So here I am, home, with an unadorned tree. My challenge, now, is to drag out the lights and decorations and pretend that dangling things off of branches is something I've been looking forward to all year.
Time to get started.
To be continued ...
