I Have Swelling Under My Arm Pit, Push In And Get A Little Pain

I have swelling under my armpit. If I push on it, it's a little painful. What could it be?

Answer

Lorane, sounds like you might have an infection somewhere that's showing up in your underarm lymph nodes. Have you had a cold lately, a virus, anything like that? Swelling in the armpit wouldn't be a typical breast cancer symptom. A distinct lump - one that's hard and feels fixed in place - would be more worrisome, but still, the vast majority of lumps in the underarm are due to issues with lymph nodes. Just to be safe, I'd suggest calling a doctor about this, or accessing a walk-in clinic; whatever it is causing the swelling, it needs to be diagnosed and perhaps treated. Good luck - I hope you get this taken care of soon. PJH
