Do The Symptoms Come And Go In The Early Stage?

Do The Symptoms Come And Go In The Early Stage?

My husband had months of memory problems, wandering, problems with time and days, slurred speech and incoherent. Then he returned to almost normal with only occasional memory problems. This lasted for 5 months then suddenly he had a week of all the bad symptoms. After that week he has been doing really well; just occasional memory problems. It’s been three months of good and I’m waiting for the bad to come back. Is this typical?

Answer

Hi

Has your husband been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s?

It is difficult to advise you with so little information. Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease and although you can get some minor improvements it is not usual for someone to return to ‘almost normal’.

I believe that it would be best to return to see a doctor.
