Teenager With High Pulse Rate?

I am a 13-year-old boy and I have a high pulse rate (about 100 per minute). What could be causing this?

Answer

Though I can't diagnose or prescribe treatment without an exam, I can tell you that a normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. If you are above 100, that would be considered tachycardia. Here is a link that discusses tachycardia further:

Tachycardia

If your pulse is greater than 100 you would want to see a doctor to find out if there is a need for a concern and to be properly treated.
