Happy New Year! Everyone from HealthCentral’s rheumatoid arthritis (RA) site hopes your holidays were filled with music and joy, and more than a few good meals.
Which seems like a natural segue to the #ChronicLife theme of January. It is, quite naturally, resolutions. I would like to suggest that one of your resolutions for this year should be to have more cookies. It’s probably best to exercise moderation, so limit yourself to one cookie a day.

The #ChronicLife movement started less than a year ago and has become an important part of the chronic illness community. This year on the RA site, we are focusing on just that: your life with chronic illness, with a specific focus on RA. I’ll tell you more about that later this week. In her first post this month, Leslie will look at another aspect of chronic illness when she writes about the way chronic fatigue can affect your life.
The start of the year feels new and fresh and full of possibilities. When you look at your life to see what needs changing, it may also include your healthcare. Have you been feeling iffy about your treatment? Are you not quite happy with your doctor? This month I’ll write about improving your RA treatment. First by discussing signs that might be time for a second opinion, and how to get one. In my second article on this topic, I’ll discuss how you know if your medication isn’t working as well as it should, and how to talk to your doctor about it.
Asking for help can also make your life better, and both Britt and Vanessa will be writing about different sides of this issue. Vanessa’s post will be geared towards helping others help you. Britt is going to follow up on her previous post on the way people with chronic illness take care of others, by writing about our caregivers and how to support them.
