The role of stress in osteoporosis

Editor's Note: This article was originally written by former producer Maria Gifford.

A concerning fact: Cortisol, a hormone produced when your body is under stress, causes calcium to be pulled from your bones. In a time when stress in life is at its highest and often difficult to control, stress reduction is a major health concern, for a number of reasons. Keep this in mind as you think about ways to maintain good bone health and prevent osteoporosis. Excess cortisol may well be initiating the pull of calcium from your bones.

Best of health,
Maria
