Can I Take Thyroid Med The Same Time As Fosomax In Morning?
I also take levothyroxine 88mg AM without food. Can this med be taken the same time as alendronate?
Hi Karen, welcome. No you shouldn't take synthroid at the same time as fosamax. However, I would discuss this with your Dr. to see if he/she agrees. Since the synthroid is taken without food as well I can see where this would present a problem. Also discuss this with your pharmacist as well to see what they say. Fosamax (alendronate) is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach and without any other supplement or medication, so I'm not sure what you should do. Is there another time of day where you could take the synthroid? The rx info on it says to take it 1 hour before a meal, so I'd ask the Dr or pharmacist if you could take it some other time as long as you haven't eaten in an hour or more. Medications can interfere with the absorption of fosamax so that's why you aren't suppose to combine taking it and something else at the same time including food, and drinks (other than the water you use to take it). In any case your Dr. or pharmacist will have to answer this question for you since they are the only one who can answer it correctly.
Good luck with this and I hope you can find an easy solution.
