Is Tooth Pain Ever Related To Acid Reflux, Esp. The Front Teeth

I DO HAVE ACID REFLUX, IT IS PRETTY BAD, I AM SCHEDULED FOR AN ENDOSCOPY. IS TOOTH PAIN EVER RELATED TO THIS DISEASE, IT IS MOSTLY MY FRONT TEETH, BUT SOMEDAYS THE SIDE TEETH HURT TOO. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DENTIST, AND HE FINDS NOT APPARENT REASON FOR THE TOOTH PAIN. COULD THE ACID BE AFFECTING MY TEETH? I ALSO HAVE SORE THROAT ALOT. THANK YOU.

Answer

Hi Tracey,

There is some relationship between teeth and acid reflux as the teeth are affected by the acid in the stomach. Jan Gambino wrote and excellent article about protecting your teeth when you have acid reflux. You can read that article here. You should probably be checked out by a dentist to make sure the pain you are experiencing is related to the Acid Reflux and not some other serious condition. Health Central is a wonderful resource for getting information for all kinds of conditions, but should never be used in place of your doctor's solid medical advice.

Take care and stay in touch.
