Is topamax a Narcotic?

Answer

Good morning, Connie,

No, Topamax is not a narcotic. Topamax (topiramate) is a neuronal stabilizing agent (anticonvulsant or antiseizure) medication. in the same family as Depakote, Neurontin, and others.

These medications are sometimes helpful in relieving certain types of pain such as pain from neuropathy. They're also sometimes used to prevent Migraines and headaches.

We have a lot of information on our MyMigraineConnection site in our Topamax Info section.
