My Total Cholestrol Is 234 Hdl Is 111 Ldl Is 123 Is This Ok? It's Usually 136 Hdl And 94 Ldl

Answer

Hi Mamie,

Here are the recommendations of the American Heart Association:

Total cholesterol less than 200
HDL cholesterol at least > 40, ideally > 60
LDL cholesterol at least less than 130, ideally less than 100
Triglycerides less than 150

One issue worth mentioning is that there are "good" and "bad" forms of LDL and "good" and "bad" forms of HDL. The only way to know what your particles are made up of is with a comprehensive lipid panel, such as the Lipoprotein Particle Panel offered by Spectra Cell Labs.

Can My HDL Be Too High?
