How To Treat Pain Inside Left Shoulder Blade That Numbs Thumb & 3 Fingers And Makes Them Cold?

How can I ease pain on the inside of my left shoulder blade that numbs my thumb and three fingers and makes them cold? It feels like a nerve just under my left shoulder blade is pinched and causing pain in the front of my shoulde. Then it creates a tingling sensation in my thumb and three fingers. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome seems to come close in terms of symptoms, except there was no mention of any shoulder and/or shoulder blade pain in the things I read.

Answer

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a pinched median nerve in the wrist area. Because your numbness, tingling, and burning involves the shoulder area, then the nerve problem lies higher up the nerve "stream" than in the wrist. A C5 or C6 nerve root (the C5 and C6 nerve that start in the neck form the median nerve which is why your symptoms are similar to carpal tunnel syndrome) irritation is probably more likely. If it persists, than it is best to see a neurologist who can determine the exact location of the nerve irritation causing your arm/shoulder pain.
