Two Weeks on Inderal

Editor's Note: This article was originally written by patient expert Eileen Gray.

After my "drug holiday", my doctor decided to try me on _Inderal _  as a preventive. I started out taking 1/2 a  10mg pill in the morning, and again in the evening. Now, I am up to one 10mg pill in the morning and again in the evening.

I have to say, so far, I feel pretty good The Inderal does make me a tad dizzy from time to time, and the first few nights on it I had horrible nightmares, but yesterday was my first touch of Migraine since starting it!

My doctor said he would watch me closely on this drug, since it is primarily used to lower blood pressure. I have a normal to low blood pressure to start, so any sign of it giving me a problem, we will back the dosage down.

So far I feel optimistic about it. Then again, my first month on _Topamax _  I was Migraine free too.

My doctor also gave me Zanaflex to treat my Tension-Type Headaches, since the _Midrin _ was not working for me.

I have used the Zanaflex a few times in the last two weeks, and find it works GREAT for me!! I am so happy to have finally found something that works for my Tension Headaches!! I find that I had a harder time treating my Tension Headaches then my Migraines, since I never knew what to try for them. Now, I have found something that works and no longer feel like I'm grasping at straws, trying whatever I can to make them stop. I try and get rid of the Tension Headaches as soon as they strike because they can be a Migraine trigger for me.

I see my doctor again in October, after I've been on the Inderal for six weeks. That way we will have an accurate picture on if the Inderal is definitely working for me.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
