After Ultrasound, Doctor Said Heart Is Getting Hard And Drying Up. What Does That Mean?

My husband has an history of high cholesterol, diabetic, high blood pressure, and he takes medication to control and he is stable. He is also a smoker. However, after ultrasound to his heart and chest, our family doctor said his heart is getting hard .... what does that mean? they also found a spot on his lung -. He is being scheduled for both a heart and lung specialist. But in the meantime, I am worried and would like to know more about the heart .... Thank you.
