Upper Back Pain Between Shoulder Blades That Radiates To Chest?

I have been experiencing back pain between my shoulder blades that goes through to my chest. The pain is like an ache that causes my entire left arm to ache, and it also radiates to my left armpit. Any ideas what could be causing this? I have been under a doctor's care, but she can't seem to find anything wrong with me.

Hi CJB -

I'm sorry you're going through this pain. It's hard to know from your symptoms what it could be, so a doctor is going to be your best bet for diagnosing the problem. Any chest pain should be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible, since it can be a sign of a cardiac problem like a heart attack. Other possibilities include a pinched nerve, a disc problem in your back, or some other kind of back issue. Again, a doctor will be able to tell you with certainty what's causing your pain.
