Can Utis Cause High Blood Pressure?
Question

Can Utis Cause High Blood Pressure?
I have had a urinary tract infection for several months. I am on generic for Macrobid. Would this cause my blood pressure to spike?
Answer
It is possible for an infection to be linked to a high blood pressure, particularly if it is also causing you pain. Long-term infections like that can elevate C-RP levels in the body, as well, which is a sign of inflammation, and this has also been linked to elevated blood pressure. I recommend working with your physician to monitor your blood pressure levels as your infection is treated.
