Wake Up to Better Health

Your morning coffee may go down a bit smoother, now that the World Health Organization is giving it a (mostly) clean bill of health.

In 1991, the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer listed coffee as a category 2B carcinogen, possibly linked to bladder cancer. Based on the latest research, though, the IARC has decided to list coffee as category 3, “not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans.”

However, try to keep your drinks cool, or at least tepid.

A “very hot” beverage, more than 150 degrees Fahrenheit, is still listed as a 2B carcinogen. Perhaps try an iced coffee, instead.
