What Causes A Sharp Pain In The Back Of The Head?

I just had neck surgery about three weeks ago, and my blood pressure has been being high. It was 170/107. Now I have a sharp pain in the back of my head that is making me sick to my stomach. The pain is so bad that when it hits me, I nearly cry. I have never had pain in my head like this. Does anyone know what it could be?

How long do these pains last? There is a type of headache called ice pick headaches that last for only seconds. You can read more in Ice Pick Headaches - The Basics.

That said, nobody can tell you via the Internet what's causing your pains. The only person who can do that is a doctor who can review your and your family's medical history, discuss your symptoms with you, and conduct a complete examination.

You need to get off the computer and call your doctor. Seriously. Your blood pressure reading is in stroke range. The pains might be related to your surgery, or they might be something else. Unexplained head pain should ALWAYS be checked out. Statistically, it's probably not life-threatening, but you don't want to be on the wrong end of the statistics.

Please, call your doctor immediately, and when you can, post again to let me know how you're doing?
