Everyone feels nervous from time to time and usually when something important is going to happen, such as having to speak in public or an important meeting. This normally happens shortly before the event and once the event is over, the feeling of nervousness goes as well.

In anxiety, however, the person feels intense and irrational fear, often without an apparent reason. Many times the fear does not come from a threat but can cause someone great distress and sometimes cause the person to feel paralyzed. In addition, anxiety often has physical symptoms such as heart palpitations, sweating, trembling or nausea.
