What Is The Difference Between Loratab 7.5-500 And Narco 7.5- 335 ?

i hav been taking loratab 7.5-500 for 4 years and my Dr. wants to switch me over to narco 7.5- 335. Should i let him ? I have Fibromyalgia.

Answer

Lortab and Norco are just different brand names for a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. The Lortab you've been taking has 7.5 mg hydrocodone and 500 mg acetaminophen. The Norco your doctor is suggesting has 7.5 mg hydrocodone and 325 mg acetaminophen. So the only difference is a little less acetaminophen. The purpose of combining acetaminophen with hydrocodone is to boost the effectiveness of the hydrocodone. I suspect your doctor may be concerned about the amount of acetaminophen you've been getting since too much can damage your liver. The two medications are so similar that I doubt you'll notice much, if any, difference.
