What Is The Difference Between Zegerid Prescription And Zegerid Otc?
In general, most of the time when an OTC version is available the prescription is a different strength or method of delivery (powder vs. capsule).
In the case of Zegrid this is what I was able to find:
OTC: 20 mg omeprazole and 1100 mg sodium bicarbonate capsule.
ZEGERID 20-mg Capsules: contains 20 mg omeprazole and 1100 mg sodium bicarbonate.
ZEGERID 40-mg Capsules: contains 40 mg omeprazole and 1100 mg sodium bicarbonate.
ZEGERID Powder for Oral Suspension is a white, flavored powder packaged in unit-dose packets. Each packet contains either 20 mg or 40 mg omeprazole and 1680 mg sodium bicarbonate.
