What Does A Fibroadenoma With Myxoid Stroma Mean And What Is The Treatment?

Answer

Hi - Fibroadenoma is a type of benign breast tumor; myxoid stroma just describes it more exactly. The treatment can involve removal of the tumor, if it's uncomfortable; or simply leaving it there, as many fibroadenomas will go away on their own, in time. They're more common in women under 30. So, you'll need to discuss with your doctor whether you want to leave it, and keep your eye on it via mammogram and ultrasound, since it raises your risk for breast cancer slightly. Or whether you want to take it out; or destroy it via freezing (called cryoablation). Good luck - PJH
